Women's Curriculum Commission

Letter from Jamie Ellis to Chancellor Nelson Ferebee Taylor asking to be on the Women’s Curriculum Commission, November 19, 1974

In this letter to the Chancellor, senior Jamie Ellis asked to be a student representative on the Women’s Studies Committee. The Committee focused on interdisciplinary courses incorporating women’s studies across disciplines rather than creating a Women’s Studies Department. Ms. Ellis’s letter reflected a belief, commonly-held in the earlier years of the Committee, that a department dedicated to women’s and gender studies was unnecessary.
