Research in Wilson Special Collections Library

To continue research with materials from Wilson Special Collections Library, you can use search tools on our website.

The UNC Libraries online catalog is a great place to start your search for special collections material, especially rare books, serials, newspapers, and audio and visual recordings. To search for materials in archival collections you can also search across our finding aids. Finding aids describe archival collections to researchers and provide information on the items in the collection, such as papers, bound volumes, audio recordings, photographs, and more. Finding aids for collections in Wilson Library are available online and are key-word searchable through the “Search Archival Collections” search bar on our website.

UNC Libraries also creates Subject Research Guides centered on specific subjects and research topics. Subject Research Guides are mini-websites created by librarians to provide entry points to explore a specific topic with links to books, archival materials, databases, and other resources for research. UNC Subject Research Guides organized by subject can be found on our website.

While the building is closed to the public, we are providing virtual reference assistance and digital reference copy ordering. For more details on our policies and information to prepare for a visit, please see our website or email Research & Instructional Services: wilsonlibrary@unc.edu
