Guthrie Meade: Country Music Sources

Published in 2002, Guthrie T. "Gus" Meade's Country Music Sources was the result of 35 years of research, yielding a work of staggering breadth: complete, detailed information for approximately 14,500 recordings (representing 3,500 songs) recorded between 1921 and 1942. The publication of the work in 2002 by the Southern Folklife Collection, in cooperation with the University of North Carolina Press, was a major event in country music scholarship. The materials included here give an idea of how Gus Meade approached his work.
