Dear Friends:
The Cultural Program at Penn Community Services, Inc., would like to invite you to the opening and dedication ceremony of its museum to take place the second Sunday in February (which is February 13, 1972) at 6 P.M. We are naming the museum in honor of our late Dr. York W. Bailey for his dedicated work on the Island. We feel that this museum, unlike any other in this country, truly represents and reflects the history, like style, and artistic skills of a Black Community, in this case St. Helena Island.
Many times researchers and scholars come into a community, collect their material and leave. Though we have collected much of our material from the Island, we feel we have gone a step further by establishing this museum in the St. Helena Island Community. We would like to make this museum, with your help, a place where much that is beautiful and interesting about the way of life on this Island will be preserved and taken care of.
We look forward to your attendance.
Peace and Unity,
