UNC Women in athletics, photographs 1950s-1970s
These photographs depict the involvement of women at Carolina in various sports organizations and athletic events in general. Women’s sports began at UNC-Chapel Hill as intramurals or clubs, as a collegiate league for women’s athletics was not mandated until the implementation of Title IX, outlawing discrimination on the basis of sex in 1972.
