SUFFRAGE JINGLES
Jack Spratt was a Democrat
His wife joined the G.O.P.
They thought that thus betwixt them both
They’d represented be.
While you are voting Curly locks mine
Who will wash the dishes and go feed the swine.
You needn’t worry about it my dear
I shall not vote every day in the year.
There was a man in our town and he was wondrous wise,
On every popular reform he voted with the Ayes
He found the Suffrage League contained so many folks of note
He said he though(t) the time had come to let the women vote.
Jack and Jill went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water
Jack’s weekly pay was two per day
But Jill’s just one and a quarter.
