Dear Sir
Yours of the 18th was received this day on my return from Duplin Courts. I immediately wrote to Mr. Gillispie requesting him to have the negro alluded to, arrested & lodged in Bladen Jail, promising to pay a reasonable reward for this service.
I shall be at Bladen Court 1st Monday in August if the boy be taken by that time I shall sell him at Court, if not I shall then take steps to have him taken. I shall then also inquire as to the sale of the land made by [?] Hill Esq.
I hope to see you at next Court in Chatham to consult you on a case which may be of some importance to the Trustees of the University.
Yours truly
